Age Lab — Design for transitions from independent living to senior care facilities

How can design positively influence the transition from independent living to senior care facilities?

For elderly people, the transition to a senior care facility is a critical life event that can threaten their integrity. This can result in the deterioration of physical and mental health. Individual needs and expectations of the senior person can come into conflict with institutional and political interests.
Based on empirical findings and taking the perspective of the affected, the Age Lab develops human-centred solutions in collaboration with key stakeholders. Age Lab services achieve results that support the needs and expectations of our society for self-determined and dignified ageing. In addition, the Age Lab platform creates synergies and cooperation to contribute to the development of an integrated health care system.
