Verdant – Nature through Digital Fabrication
How can design enable architectural tools to integrate nature into living spaces?
We spend most of our time inside buildings. In an urban world of technology and industrialization, connection to mother earth is lost. How can digital fabrication enable the integration of natural elements in living spaces?
This thesis aims to create a new relationship between nature and the built environment to enable architecture to improve our lifestyles through biophilic design. It presents interdisciplinary research involving literature, expert interviews, experiences, and experiments on materiality and 3D ceramic printing.
The result is Project Verdant, a service that explores a digital manufacturing technique combining traditional and natural elements.
