Monosphère

How is a computer game designed that facilitates access to breathing exercises, increases motivation for their regular use and reduces known side effects of this relaxation method?

The human respiration is an effective means of communication between body and mind. As the only one of the autonomous functions of the body, we can consciously control breathing, at least temporarily. «Monosphère» is a game for mobile platforms that eases the introduction to breathing exercises and increases the motivation for their continuous practice. It is aimed primarily at young people who are being introduced to mindfulness exercises as part of behavioral therapy. The game is controlled through biofeedback and thus allows a direct interaction with the player’s breathing.

This work investigates the means by which the players’ respiratory awareness can be increased.
