About the relationship between people and objects - Emotional durability in design

How can objects help people to form a lasting relationship with them?

The relationship of people to objects is central to pro- duct design. This research project’s aim is to explore this key relationship and form new design principles to provide for a long-lasting relationship between people and objects. In investigating the relationship, the results of psychological research, design theories and the authors’ own empirical studies are implemented. These findings are to form the base for a publication on the subject of emotional durability. The publication will indicate the design principles that emerge and call for a discussion of the issue of emotional durability in design.
