The synergy kin
From the potential of activation to collaboration between Indie Game and Web Art Community.
How can the focus of an artistically oriented indie community on capitalist success criteria be reduced, and then expanded with long-term motivations that activate their individuals and stimulate sustainable growth?
Creative indie communities stand against the capitalist consumer society and want to give people an interesting alternative. They express themselves in diverse and sometimes risky works. While measuring their success, however, they return to the, sometimes problematic, values of capitalism.
In this paper I present my action-leading model «synergy kin». In five steps, supported by practical experiments, the model shows how the indie game and the web art community can complement their values with sustainable long-term motivations and become effective through collaboration. The core artifact besides the theoretical discoveries is a digital zine collaboration with eight teams.
