How can the motif of travel be narratively decoded based on archival newspaper reports and dramaturgically re-engaged in an editorial format?
Jörg Roth is a retired journalist who spent most of his career as travel editor for the «Münchner Abendzeitung». His articles, together with a related analog slide archive of travel photographs from the years between 1983 and 2000, provide the basis for this master thesis.
In the specific research work, the individual components of the collection will be systematically analyzed, cataloged, and edited using methods of visual communication. Through this process, the goal is to explore and expand the narrative qualities of the historical material in order to redevelop them in a contemporary editorial design.
