PROJECT CH+ Games for Democracy

Can gamification principles applied to political communication motivate Swiss voters to politically educate themselves by supporting them in identifying politicians who accurately represent their views?

Over the recent years, mobile games have gained immense popularity. In the meantime, the political climate around the globe has gotten more tense. Democratic institutions are questioned, while (political) individuals grow their following. In Switzerland, democratic participation is around a steady 50% during elections, and between 30-70% during popular votes.

Project CH+ is a participatory project, which aims to use game mechanics, to make political self-education more inviting and to motivate political participation. Through online surveys and testing sessions, people from all political corners have the opportunity to contribute to the concept, which is being developed in an iterative process from election to election.
