Mona. An assistive digital platform for people with Parkinson‘s.
How can design provide people affected by Parkinson’s with the necessary tools to better manage the complexities of living with a progressive disease?
The number of people diagnosed with Parkinson’s increases across the globe. Causes of this progressive condition are currently unknown and, as yet, we do not have a cure. However, assistive products do exist, which can both prolong and improve quality of life.
The aim of this project is to apply human-centred research and design to create a product which supports those whose everyday life is adversely affected by Parkinson’s. This study combines findings from immersive research methods, a focus group and interviews with both affected persons and healthcare practitioners.
The results have informed the development and design of a digital platform empowering people to improve their management of the many complexities of living with a progressive disease and help them contribute to Parkinson’s research.
