How to find the best storytelling rhythm for a «visual novel» game?
Stories can help to start a conversation, get people to start talking. People who have read the same story have the feeling of having experienced the same event together. Each person has his/her own experiences, viewpoints and attitudes, which can lead to disagreements with other people. My research project aims to improve communication and understanding between human beings.
With this aim I am designing a game with a story – the Visual Novel Game. I call it «Play a game, play a story.» It describes a situation briefly and precisely, and presents characters and events vividly. Stories and games have the ability to bring these elements together and help the player have a memorable experience.
