With the Senses of a Spider. An Arachnocentric Experience
What can the concept and design look like to support the immersive, audiovisual experience of a change of perspective for the purpose of sensory knowledge transfer?
How do spiders perceive their world? In the life of a tiger-wandering spider, its airflow sense is of central importance. With extremely sensitive sensory hairs on its legs and palps, it is able to locate flying insects at night and catch them with a leap in the air.
With a virtual reality animation film from the perspective of the spider, the audience will be made aware of what it is like to experience the world from the perspective of a spider. Explanatory illustrations on how the senses work complement the immersive experience. The animated film is to be shown within the context of an exhibition. It will enable a broad audience to develop interest, respect and, in the best case, empathy for this exciting group of animals.
